Can I be with my pet for the entire end-of-life procedure (euthanasia)?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  I encourage you to be present and loving to your pet for the
entire appointment.

Question 2

What if I don’t want to be present for the entire end of life procedure?

Accepted Answer

You don’t have to be.  I will perform the procedure the same way if
you are there or if you are not.  You can communicate with me
anything you need to before I arrive or during our appointment.

Question 3

Can my other pet be present for the end-of-life appointment?

Accepted Answer

Your other pet can be present provided they’re not distracting you or
your pet and they want to be there.

Question 4

Can my children be present during euthanasia?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  I only discourage children from being present if they don’t want to be there,
or if it prevents you from grieving the way you need to.  We can
discuss any concerns you may have prior to the appointment.

Question 5

Do you have any memorialization options I can do at home?

Accepted Answer

Yes, I have ink for nose and paw prints, clay for paw prints, art supplies for writing cards, stickers, and I am happy to give you some hair from your pet to keep.

Question 6

What if I don’t know what kind of aftercare I want for the remains of my pet?

Accepted Answer

You can choose on the day of the procedure or a couple of days later
if you need time to consider it.

Question 7

Is there a cancellation fee for euthanasia or telemedicine if I change my mind or if my pet passes at home before you arrive?

Accepted Answer

No. Any prepayment will be credited back to you immediately.

Is there a cancellation fee for in person examinations or consultations?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  50% of your scheduled appointment is non-refundable 24 hours prior to the appointment.

What forms of payment do you take?

Accepted Answer

E-transfer, cash, VISA, or Mastercard.

Why do you like to have a questionnaire and conversation before the appointment?

Accepted Answer

So any concerns, questions, and requests you may have are clear and honoured, and that you have nothing but warmth when you think about your pet’s passing in years to come.

Can I bury my pet?

Accepted Answer

Please see burial guidelines.

Why don’t you write prescriptions for me to give Solensia, Librela or Cytopoint at home to my pet?

Accepted Answer

Because Solensia, Librela and Cytopoint can cause severe anaphylaxis and death if they are accidentally injected into yourself when administering the medication.

Why won’t you write a prescription if I’m not in B.C.?

Accepted Answer

I am only licenced to practice veterinary medicine in the province of B.C.
